Tracking migration flights
BY USA TODAYStaff at the Center for Conservation Biology are currently running a program to understand the migratory path of the whimbrel birds, one of the birds has carried a tiny radio transmitter that's been allowing researchers to follow his path via satellite.
Last week, the three year old bird survived flying through Hurricane Irene. Whimbrels can fly between 40-50 miles per hour in clear weather and can travel up to 3,500 miles without rest. It's pretty amazing, click here to read the full article...
